Accomplished chef and cookbook author Elisa Costantini of Newtown Square has had a busy 10 years, writes Peg DeGrassa for the Delaware County News Network.

The octogenarian published two cookbooks and had a role in The Irishman, sitting next to Robert DeNiro.

She’s been on The Today Show and The Rachel Ray Show three times. She taught cooking at an Italian winery twice.

Costantini, from Poggio Valle, Italy, is the daughter of farmers.

In 1961, she brought her family recipes to Philadelphia, married, and raised a family. When her second child, Agnes, died, she took a job as a cook and housekeeper at Don Guanella Village.

In 2013, after the deaths of her husband and best friend, Costantini tapped into her passion for cooking.

She published Italian Moms: Spreading Their Art to Every Table and Italian Moms: Something Old, Something New.

Last year, Costantini also scored a small role in The Irishman.

“To be honest, I never watch movies, so I wasn’t too familiar with DeNiro, but he was a very nice person,” Costantini said.

Costantini is in a Baptism scene at church, playing “somebody’s wife,” she said.
