GWCC Announces Award Winners to Be Recognized at Annual Banquet on Feb. 6

Greater West Chester Chamber named State Rep. Carolyn Comitta itsCitizen of the Year.

Once a year, the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce gathers its members together to celebrate those outstanding citizens and businesses that stood above the rest during the previous year.

Celebrate last year’s honorees at the 2020 Annual Banquet on Thursday, Feb. 6 at The Desmond in Malvern. Attendees are invited to enjoy cocktails and an extravagant dinner in a luxurious atmosphere as they laud these honorees:

  • 2019 Business of the Year: John Serock Catering
  • 2019 Citizen of the Year: Carolyn Comitta
  • 2019 Community Service Award: Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center

The Business of the Year Award is presented annually to a Chamber member in recognition of outstanding achievement in the business community and the Greater West Chester community. Winners, like John Serock Catering, are chosen for their entrepreneurial spirit, community, and/or public service, service to the Chamber, innovative approach to business, and employee relations.

Criteria for the individual worthy of receiving Citizen of the Year award includes being active in the community through various avenues such as civic associations, service organizations, school participation, neighborhood associations, church, or military associations. Comitta served two terms as the Mayor of West Chester, and she was a member of Borough Council, the National League of Cities and PA Municipal League.

The Community Service Award recognizes an organization that provided exemplary community service and made a positive impact on the Greater West Chester community. Through its programming and outreach efforts, Uptown! has become a special gathering place in the community, reflecting the diverse demographic and bringing a cultural focal point to downtown West Chester.
