Michelle Legaspi Sanchez, who was born and raised in Lebanon, in central Pennsylvania, is the Executive Director for the Chester County Fund for Women and Girls, a nonprofit that unites the community through philanthropy and advocacy to ensure that women and girls have opportunities to thrive.

Legaspi Sanchez earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Rosemont College and master’s degrees in both Public Health and Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania. She credits Pam Bryer, the founder of the Maternal and Child Health Consortium of Chester County, with having the biggest impact on her professional career.

“Pam said yes to a coffee date with me when I was fresh out of graduate school and new to Chester County 11 years ago,” said Legaspi Sanchez, who began working when she was 15 as a hostess at a diner in her hometown. “After our initial meeting, she gave me the opportunity to work with her and learn from her, even when she didn’t have an open position at the time. I took on various projects and eventually became full time in a variety of roles. From her, I learned so much about nonprofits from numerous angles, and I learned a lot about being a selfless, tenacious leader.”

Legaspi Sanchez is proudest to be leading CCFWG at such an exciting time.

“We have done so much to expand our reach and elevate our work on behalf of women and girls,” she said. “This work right now is incredibly fulfilling because, as a mother of five girls, advocacy on behalf of all women and girls is part of my DNA. I am proud to be leading an organization so focused and so well-positioned to truly make a difference.”

Legaspi Sanchez’s favorite Chester County restaurant is Baan Thai in West Chester.
