Washington Post: Chesco’s Chrissy Houlahan Played Key Role in Moving Impeachment Inquiry Forward

U.S. Rep. Chrissy Houlahan

A few freshman members of Congress – including U.S. Rep. Chrissy Houlahan, who represents Pennsylvania’s Sixth Congressional District, which includes all of Chester County – played a key role in moving the impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump forward, write Rachael Bade, Mike DeBonis, and Josh Dawsey for The Washington Post.

On Wednesday, Trump became the third president in history to be impeached.

In September, Houlahan was among a small group of freshman members of Congress who drafted an op-ed embracing an impeachment inquiry. The final edits to the document were made in Houlahan’s office, and the piece, which stated that the allegations against Trump “are a threat to all we have sworn to protect,” ran hours later in The Washington Post.

Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, praised the freshmen, saying they made it “easier” to move forward with the inquiry.

“They were so courageous,” she said. “But they weren’t asking permission or consulting with me. They were just informing me as to what they were going to do, as members do all the time. That they did it en bloc made it very, very important.”
