With harvest season in full swing, Chester County is encouraging residents across the tri-state area to turn to its award-winning Guide to Local Farm Products in Chester County for everything from finding the best cider, winter squash, and award-winning cheeses to alpaca fleece and home-grown Christmas trees.

A Guide to Local Farm Products in Chester County won first place for the “special purpose publication” category in the 2019 competition of the National Association of Government Communicators. Beautifully designed with easy-to-use tools to find your favorite farm products, the publication is produced by the Chester County Agricultural Development Council and funded by the Chester County Board of Commissioners.

“We are proud to celebrate Chester County agriculture and the people who make our food system possible,” said Ag Council Director Hillary Krummrich.

The annual guide features more than 125 farms and retail outlets selling locally grown goodness. Highlights include:

  • A comprehensive map of the region pinpoints all of the top farm product destinations, so you can plan your road trip (pages 16-17).
  • A complete listing of farmers markets notes which winter markets host at least once a month during the offseason (page 18).
  • A breakdown of specialty products lists everything from wineries and cider producers to honey for your cold-weather tea and treats for holiday entertaining (page 23-27).
  • An easy-to-read farm product calendar shows you what’s in season and when (pages 30-31).

“The Chester County Board of Commissioners and the Agricultural Development Council are so pleased to shine a light on the great variety of innovative agriculture taking place across all the different landscapes in the county,” said Chester County Commissioners’ Chair Michelle Kichline.

Paper copies of A Guide to Local Farm Products in Chester County were distributed to more than 60 locations across the county. A map of those locations can be found here while supplies last.
