For its first foray into Philadelphia, Downingtown-based Victory Brewing decided to forgo the parts of city preferred by most other breweries in favor of a Center City location, writes Natalie Kostelni for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The company focused on that part of Philadelphia for a reason. It wanted to find a location that would cater to a mix of demographics, including business clientele working in area offices, tourists visiting the many museums along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, and residents.

“We’re a little different than a lot of brewers in Philadelphia,” said Steve Jeffries of Precision Realty Group, which represented Victory in its search. “Food is going to be a focus.”

Victory Brewing was acquired two years ago by Artisanal Brewing Ventures, a private holding company that was formed by combining Victory and Southern Tier Brewing in New York.

The new brewery is a part of Artisanal’s concept of setting up restaurants and using the various breweries as a flagship for each of them. This way, they appeal to beer lovers, the craft beer community, and food aficionados.
