Whitford Classic ‘All About Community’ as Event Crosses Million-Dollar Threshold in Charitable Giving

By

The Ninth Annual Whitford Classic featured tennis, golf, dancing, and whole lot of philanthropy.

The money raised at this year’s Classic, held in late September at the Whitford Country Club in Exton, has pushed the event across the million-dollar threshold in charitable giving.

One hundred percent of these proceeds, which have been generated in less than a decade, are reinvested in the community through grants to dozens of local organizations that work to make a difference in the lives of Chester County residents.

The worthy beneficiaries of this year’s Classic are:

  • Unite for HER
  • Sweet Jane’s Wish
  • The Crime Victims’ Center of Chester County
  • A Haven
  • Designing 4 Hope
  • Chester County Futures
  • Downingtown Area Senior Center
  • SALT Performing Arts
  • Bringing Hope Home

“My favorite part about the Whitford Classic is the people,” said Gwynne Gorr, who chaired the dinner gala. “This is all about community. All the donations that come in (serve) to build up Chester County, the place where we live and work.

“It’s really wonderful to see what people can do when they come together.”
