Motorists in West Chester will soon have an easier time finding available parking thanks to new and upgraded signs that will be installed all over the borough, writes Bill Rettew for the Daily Local News.

Borough Council recently voted to install “PARK” signs at the Bicentennial and Chestnut Street garages, both of which can be easily missed by motorists driving by. In total, the borough will add dozens of new signs and also take down several signs that no longer meet its guidelines.

In addition to being bigger and more visible, the new signs will be uniform and make it a little easier to locate parking, according to Parking Director Clark Elms.

“Anytime you make it easier to find parking so people aren’t circling around the block trying to find an open meter is good,” he said.

Plans also call for kiosks and pedestrian information signage for parkers to be placed at lots and the garages.

The work is expected to start before the end of the year. The borough has already set aside $60,000, with plans for another $80,000 to be allocated from next year’s budget.
