Stumpy’s Hatchet House – a unique axe-throwing venue with jukeboxes, arcades, and billiards – will open at 706 East Market Street in West Chester later this month, writes Fran Maye for the Daily Local News.

The new establishment will comfortably seat 100 people and feature eight throwing pits, each able to accommodate 10 throwers.

“This will be a high-end atmosphere,” said co-owner Brad Wurtz. “This will be the first in West Chester to have a stealth pour system with a beer and wine wall.”

Customers will simply register their credit cards as a tab with the beer attendant. They will then be able to choose from 20 unique beers on the taps on the wall and drink any beer in any quantity.

“This is kind of like bowling,” said Wurtz. “No one carries a beer down the lane. You put your beer down and throw the hatchet.”

The establishment will employ 20 part-time and two full-time staff. The safety of patrons will be the No. 1 priority, with each customer going through an extensive training session before being able to play.

“This will be good, safe fun in a social environment,” said Wurtz.
