After being married for 60 years, a West Goshen couple will finally have the wedding of their dreams, with the help of their six children, writes Michael Rellahan for the Daily Local News.

When Thomas and Helen Jackmon, then McNeil, decided to get married, they could not afford the cost of a big wedding. Instead, they decided to go to a small wedding chapel to exchange their vows.

“They really didn’t have the money to have an actual wedding,” said their daughter, Downingtown resident Cindy Jackmon.

Now, their children have decided that they deserve more. They vowed to arrange a traditional wedding with a wedding dress, bridesmaids, flowers, a big reception, and everything else that makes the day special.

And for their mother, the process has turned out to be very enjoyable.

“This has all been exciting,” she said.

The pair will walk down the aisle at Paoli United Methodist Church on Saturday, Oct. 5, just five days before their 60th anniversary.

“They are thrilled,” said Cindy Jackmon. “Words can’t express how happy and excited they are. They are like a couple of teenagers, actually.”
