Twelve-Year-Old from Downingtown Wins U.S. Kids Golf World Championship

Downingtown resident Nicholas Gross won the division for 12-year-old boys at the U.S. Kids Golf World Championship last week in Pinehurst, N.C.

Gross fired a seven-under-par total of 209 over three rounds at Pinehurst Resort’s No. 8 golf course. He bested the second-place finisher by five strokes, while carding a 69 in the first round, a 72 in the second round, and a 68 in the third round.

Every year since 2005, Pinehurst has played host to hundreds of junior golfers from across the globe. The weeklong experience includes a Parent/Child Tournament, Team Challenge, Parade of Nations, three rounds of championship play, and the Closing Ceremony.

The mission of U.S. Kids Golf, an organization founded in 1997, is to help kids have fun learning the lifelong game of golf and to encourage family interaction that builds lasting memories.
