Having Tripled Its Share of Search-Engine Market, Paoli’s DuckDuckGo Launches New Ad Campaign

By

DuckDuckGo, the privacy-minded Internet search engine based in Paoli, has chosen Wilmington as the backdrop for its new national ad campaign that began airing last month on Comcast, according to a report from Delaware Business Now.

The company, which was recently called “one of the feistiest adversaries of Google” by The New York Times, has been growing rapidly. In fact, over the last two years, it has managed to triple its share of the search-engine market and currently handles around 40 million searches per day.

But that is just a drop in the bucket of the massive search-engine market, which is still dominated by Google. Now, DuckDuckGo is aiming to change that with a new campaign that has started airing nationwide.

DuckDuckGo’s first national commercial, “Take Back Your Privacy,” was produced by Wilmington-based Short Order Production House.

“Our first national commercial needed to grab attention and convey our message, that DuckDuckGo blocks Internet trackers and protects online privacy,” said Gabriel Weinberg, DuckDuckGo’s CEO. “The creative that Short Order developed for the campaign hits the right tone, delivering our message in an entertaining and engaging way.”
