Davida Janae, the Coatesville native and author behind the popular Vida Fashionista blog, has simple fashion advice for women: shop smarter, not harder, writes Rachel Spurlock for Main Line Today.
“You don’t have to buy designer labels to look good,” she said. “It’s all about being confident in what you’re wearing.”
Janae has been interested in fashion since an early age, when she would make her own clothes and put on fashion shows. She began her blogging career with the Wild Thing, which she renamed to Vida Fashionista a year later.
“Vida is my nickname and means ‘life’ in Spanish, so my blog name also translates to the ‘life of a fashionista,’” she said.
Her style has changed over time. When she just started, it was bolder and “in your face.” Now, it has moved toward classic and timeless, while still keeping her prints to ensure her personality shines through.
To find new outfits, she usually heads to Zara, Old Navy, and H&M.
“I shop in pieces rather than outfits,” she said. “I build my wardrobe and a bunch of different outfits from that, rather than building a whole outfit from head to toe.”
