Church Farm School Golf Classic Presented by DNB First Set for Sept. 19 at French Creek Golf Club

By

The Church Farm School Golf Classic Presented by DNB First is about one month away, and a few slots for golfers remain.

The 18th annual event will be held Thursday, Sept. 19 at a new location: the beautiful French Creek Golf Club in Elverson.

Since 1918, CFS has been providing high-achieving young men an exemplary educational opportunity at a sensible cost. CFS believes that finances should not be a barrier to families, and it relies on the generosity of a supportive philanthropic community to achieve its 101-year-old mission. The work of CFS is validated each year, when it sends all graduates off to leading colleges and universities, armed with the desire to make their lives and communities better.

“As a supporter of education in our community, DNB First believes in the critical mission of the Church Farm School,” said Richard C. Weber, the Senior Vice President and Managing Director of DNB First Wealth Management. “We’re thrilled to be a part of a great day of golf for a tremendous cause.”

French Creek’s 18-hole championship golf course and related practice facilities encompass 230 scenic acres in Chester County. Opened in 2003 and designed by Gil Hanse, esteemed worldwide for authentic golf course craftsmanship, French Creek was created with minimal earth and environmental disturbance, allowing the site to remain rich in beauty, dramatic terrain, and wildlife. The 23,000-square-foot clubhouse was completed in 2005 and sits on the site of a beautiful old homestead surrounded by many of its original buildings. Flowing brooks, woodlands, and natural golf hazards offer a unique and incomparable round of golf for players of all skill levels.

In addition to tried and true contests, such as the putting and hole-in-one contests, available through the purchase of a signature “Golden Griffin” ticket onsite, CFS will offer a fun chipping contest during the afternoon reception where golfers can attempt to make a tricky shot into the blowup pool in the middle of the pond. Golden Griffin ticketholders are entered into raffle drawings for great prizes awarded during the awards reception.

The day kicks off at 9 AM with registration, where golfers will be greeted by members of the CFS Class of 2020 and will enjoy breakfast before the putting contest, singing of the National Anthem by the CFS Choir, and 10:30 AM shotgun start. Lunch and beverages will be available on the course, and the day concludes with the signature 19th Hole Awards Reception, which features a heavy hors d’ouvres cocktail reception, remarks from students, DNB First, and CFS Head of School Ned Sherrill, raffles, prizes, awards, and the chance to network with friends of Church Farm School.

If you’d like to sign up as a sponsor or individual golfer, you can do so online or by contacting the CFS Development office at development@gocfs.net or 610-363-5333.
