Small business optimism is at historically high levels, according to the National Federation of Independent Business. Here in Chester County, Main Street is running strong, especially in hospitality. Daily, we’re honored to sit across from new business owners who come to us with their New Frontiers — and a mission to fulfill a purpose bigger than themselves.

Sometimes it’s an idea scribbled on a napkin; sometimes it’s a dream that stirs more passion with every retelling; and sometimes, it’s the unmistakable confidence that today is the day for takeoff. We founded Centric Bank in 2007 with the same passion and a promise to lead our communities on a path to greater potential and prosperity.

From events and deposits to handshakes and loans, our team is loyal to the cities, towns, and neighborhoods we serve. We shop at your stores, dine in your restaurants, and support the non-profits that make our regions stronger and healthier. If it’s personal to our community, it’s personal to us. Loan conversations often take place at small businesses over coffee, lunch, or a warm, made-to-order donut at Duck Donuts in West Chester.

“We started our banking relationship with Centric Bank based on trust, and Sean Burns didn’t disappoint us. The Duck Donuts Franchising Company had referred us to Centric Bank, and we knew if they trusted them as a lender, then we would be well served. Our SBA loan was seamless and the smooth process allowed us to concentrate on preparing the store opening. Matt and I are both new to business ownership, but we grew up working in restaurants during summers. As a woman business owner, I appreciate partnering with a bank that has a female CEO who clearly understands the challenges and demands of running a business. We host a lot of tours for Girl Scout troops, and the leaders always point out the career choices and opportunities for young girls today. We think owning a Duck Donuts store is high on that list!” says Terry Matalavage, co-owner with her husband Matt of Duck Donuts in West Chester.

To create an award-winning, farm-to-bottle kombucha, Baba’s Brew owners Olga and Troy Sorzano source as many ingredients as possible from Chester County farms. “Centric Bank was touring Artisan Exchange, a shared kitchen that we leased, when one of the bankers introduced herself. Within a week, we met and started the process of an SBA loan and a line of credit,” said Olga. Baba’s Brew is manufactured in Phoenixville and distributed throughout the region.

Daniel and Anselmo Torres, owners of Lumbrada Cocina Mexicana in Wayne, and one of our newest SBA customers, exemplify the power of community partnerships in building a successful business. Their website features a moving quote, “If you really want to make a friend, go to someone’s house and eat with them. The people who give you their food, give you their heart.” (Cesar Chavez)

Lumbrada’s commitment to meals prepared and served with love also defines our relationship banking culture. We pride ourselves on delivering much more than financial solutions—we bring business support, a strong network, and a loyal partnership.

“When we decided to open a restaurant of our own, a business colleague recommended Centric Bank. They not only worked diligently to provide a financing package to meet our needs, they also became a strong advocate for our restaurant. Their entire team was helpful, patient, and understanding as we launched our business. Centric Bank is a partner in our success,” said Daniel and Anselmo Torres.

In our Devon office, we’ve met remarkable people who inspire us with their hard work, passion for success, and ingenuity. As I listen to big dreams from entrepreneurs, it’s a privilege to be Financing New Frontiers and contributing to Chester County’s unmatched quality of place.
