Sometimes the best ideas come from a night hanging out and sipping a few cocktails by the fire pit.

It starts with … Imagine if? Continues with … Or what if we?

For Plymouth Township residents Kerri and Andy Marin, it ended with a new, different and cutting-edge business venture called The Philly Yard Bar. And it’s taking off.

The concept is so simple, yet so unique. They basically bring a bar to your yard. Not just a bar, but a converted 30-foot-long trailer with wooded walls, fancy lighting, a bar area that fits 40 and a deck with other seating choices. Want extras? How about a state of the art sound system (with blue tooth technology) and a flat screen TV.

“It’s hard to invent something that’s really brand new,” Kerri Marin said, after spending more than 20 years (along with her husband) in the hospitality field. “But I think we did something fun and different. It’s something people talk about after seeing it.”

The portable bar-on-wheels can be set up anywhere. It has its own generator and running hot and cold water. The cost for rental ranges between $1,200 and $1,800 per event. It includes drop-off, set-up, take-down and cleaning. Most parties usually last about five hours.

The format is BYOB, meaning they don’t supply the spirits, sodas or mixers. That’s up to the host. Bartending service is another option. Ditto for food, which they don’t supply, but can offer catering options.

“We supply the ambiance,” Kerri said, of her business, which began in 2018. “We’re a party in a box. We can go anywhere.”

The most popular events The Philly Yard Bar has hosted includes weddings, country club golf outings, a slew of backyard parties and they are also open to anything – any place – since they are mobile. They have also been at a few public events, like at the Citizens Bank Park Craft Beer, Wine, and Cocktail Festival or the Juneteenth festival in Germantown.

Who knows? Maybe an Eagles Super Bowl party if the team ever returns to the Big Game?

“That would be great,” Kerri said. “We’re big Eagles fans. We have our own tailgating bus which we take to every home game.”
