The Chester County Food Bank’s Fresh2You Mobile Market, a four-wheeled produce stand, brings affordable fruits and vegetables to local communities by visiting locations throughout the county on a weekly basis, writes Michilea Patterson for the Daily Local News.

Now in its fifth season, Fresh2You is made possible through generous financial contributions provided by corporations, organizations, and individuals that support the Chester County Food Bank’s mission to ensure access to real, healthy food.

Fresh2You is open to everyone for shopping and accepts SNAP/EBT, WIC and Senior Farmers’ Market checks, its own Fruit & Vegetable Rx program, cash, and credit/debit. For customers shopping with SNAP/EBT or FMNP, Fresh2You can stretch their food budget by offering matching dollars in the form of Veggie Bucks. The match incentives are funded by the Chester County Food Bank.

Shoppers will find a variety of seasonal items like mouth-watering melons, juicy tomatoes, and savory squash – all sourced from the Food Bank’s Agriculture Program or through purchases from local farmers and producers. Donated items are not sold as part of the mobile market.

“You can’t beat the prices,” Pottstown resident Christine Allen said when Fresh2You stopped in North Coventry this week. “It’s helping me because it’s affordable.”

Every week, Fresh2You offers customers a $5 recipe bundle, which includes all the ingredients to prepare a quick, tasty meal. The Food Bank’s Taste It! volunteers are on hand to demonstrate the recipe and offer a Taste It! sample.

Allen said the Taste It! demo allows her to try dishes that she otherwise wouldn’t have an opportunity to taste. “It’s forced me to try things that I have never eaten before,” she said. “Every single time that I have come, I have bought the bundle.”
