On Saturday, June 8, the YMCA of Greater Brandywine, an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, will joins YMCAs around the world in marking the organization’s 175th birthday with a day of action.

From 9 AM-12 PM, YMCA staff, members, volunteers, partners, and more will give back to Chester County by providing 175 minutes of service to the community. View the opportunities by clicking here. You can also stop by the YMCA in your community for information.

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine has planned numerous opportunities at its branches, such as helping to prepare grounds for the YMCA’s summer camp programs and Power Scholars, a five-week summer program designed to close the achievement gap. The annual program is attended by more than 150 children and fully funded by the YMCA.

Other projects include everything from sorting medical supplies or canned goods, to planting vegetables or caring for animals, to helping with a 5K or dance recital, to cleaning up parks and creeks, reading to children, and so much more.

“We are pleased to be able to partner with so many local organizations like the Brandywine SPCA, Chester County Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, Maternal & Child Health Consortium, and several others to help make this day happen,” said Denise Day, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Brandywine and the Lancaster Family YMCA. “As a volunteer-led organization, the best way we can celebrate our birthday is by putting our mission of empowering people to strengthen their communities into motion, and with so many opportunities, there is sure to be something for everyone.”
