Having worked in cybersecurity for the last 15-plus years, Brian Jackson can certainly attest to how sophisticated cybercriminals have become.

The Chief Technology Officer and Security Officer at First Resource Bank trains his colleagues on the threat of cybercrime on a weekly basis.

“It’s not a topic that you discuss with your employees once a year for 15 minutes,” Jackson said. “You have to be aware of the threat at all times.”

Jackson and First Resource Bank will join forces with RKL, one of the largest professional services firms in Pennsylvania, and VISTA Today to host a briefing – entitled “Protecting Your Small Business from Cybersecurity Threats: 10 Cost-Effective Actions You Can Take to Protect Your Company” – on Tuesday, June 18 from 7-9:30 AM at the Chester County Economic Development Council in Exton.

The event is free to attend.

Attendees will discover how criminals are adapting by hearing about the new tricks and tools they’re using to penetrate business’s IT infrastructure and learn about the best practices for managing risk and cost-effectively protecting critical company systems from cyber extortions, threats, and intrusions.

“You can have the best firewalls, the best technology, but all it takes is just takes one uneducated person to take a phone call and give out a password,” said Jackson. “User awareness is so important.”

This two-hour event is geared toward small and medium-sized business owners, C-suite executives, and business professionals responsible for their company’s IT infrastructure and data.

Ken Knickerbocker, Publisher of VISTA Today, will welcome guests, before Jackson and RKL Principal Randy Coneby take the stage.

Jackson is certified as an information security manager, security engineer, intrusion analyst, and more. Prior to his work at First Resource Bank, Jackson was a security engineer with Janney Montgomery Scott LLC and a senior field engineer with Penn Systems Group, Inc.

At RKL, Coneby specializes in information technology audits and assists companies with audit risk assessments, financial operational audits, enterprise risk management, business process review, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) 404 compliance.
