Weston Solutions has been awarded a $22.1 million contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District for initial breach repairs to a levee system of the Missouri River.

Based in West Chester, Weston Solutions is a provider of environmental and infrastructure support services to federal, state, and local governments and industrial, utility, and commercial clients.

A high-runoff event this year caused four levee breaches to levee L550. The initial breach repair will reduce flooding risks and help protect critical infrastructure along the Missouri River near Watson, Mo.

“Within 100 days of the contractor beginning this initial breach repair work, both priority breaches on the L550 levee system should be closed,” said Rachel Shrader, the Omaha District System Restoration Team’s Project Manager. “These initial breach repairs will increase flood risk management to the area behind the levee as the team works on repair solutions for fully rehabilitating the levee system.”

Founded in 1957 as Roy F. Weston, Inc., Weston Solutions originally focused on wastewater treatment. Before long, it became known as a groundbreaking environmental engineering firm and one of the first to handle cleanup of hazardous sites after the government established the Superfund program in 1980.

Eighteen years ago, the company became the employee-owned Weston Solutions of today.
