Dog Beach at the Jersey Shore was the perfect spot for a group of Phoenixville residents to enjoy a day out in the company of their canine friend, writes Tim Kelly for OCNJDaily.com.

Matt and Amanda Wickman and their hound mix, Socks, were joined by another married couple, Michelle and Jordan Wadley, at the Dog Beach for a relaxing day outside.

The two couples were staying at a dog-friendly bed and breakfast in Ocean City. They were in the area for a wedding and decided to make a long weekend out of it.

“It’s a relaxing way to come to the beach and let Socks off leash,” said Amanda. “We’re happy we could find a dog-friendly beach so close to where we’re staying.”

The beach is actually a wildlife management area in Egg Harbor Township and is run by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

While its official name is Malibu Beach, it is known under different names by different groups of people, including Longport Dog Beach, Somers Point Dog Beach, or simply as Dog Beach.
