The children of Qlik employees recently caught a glimpse of the data-driven future being created by the King of Prussia-based software company on National Take Your Kids to Work Day.

Volunteers from every department at Qlik joined in to make the event an interactive and educational experience in which students learned and had fun.

“If you are wondering who needs to understand data, the short answer is … everyone!” Qlik CEO Mike Capone told the more than 50 boys and girls who joined their parents for the day.

Qlik is leading the industry with its analytics and business intelligence platform, empowering customers with insight into their data and truly transforming organizations.

“When we got home, my 11-year-old sat next to me, opened his laptop to the Qlik website, and started looking at the careers section,” said one employee. “He was so excited when our CEO told him he could be a ‘Qlikkie’ one day.”

The youngsters participated in activities based on age groups (elementary, middle and high school) to prepare for the future and have fun in the process. Activities included virtual scavenger hunts to learn about the company and famous industry trailblazers, an app contest to learn about money and finance, the opportunity to build a Qlik Sense app based on their favorite candy, and yoga practice to help relax after a candy sugar rush.

“My kids loved the scavenger hunt because it gave them a chance to bond with other kids and to see the office,” said another employee. “And learn that work and data can be fun!”

A highlight for the high-schoolers was lunch with Capone and CPO Deborah Snow, as they learned what a corporate environment is like and what the next steps are after graduation. They also prepared for real life with an interview workshop, which included tips on how to use social media to highlight their values in a safe and professional way.

Because data has the power to transform business and improve society, Qlik is about more than data analytics. It’s about empowering people to make meaningful discoveries that drive actual change.

“My kids told me Qlik is awesome,” an employee said, “and they never wanted to leave the building.”
