KSS (Kennett Square Specialties) Fresh recently became the newest merchant to join the lineup at Reading Terminal Market, writes Kenneth Hilario for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The mushroom purveyor from the Mushroom Capital of the World is offering nine varieties of mushrooms, soups, and teas at the 126-year-old food market.

“Our mushrooms are FDA approved, grown without chemicals, and brought to the Market within 24 hours of being harvested,” said KSS Fresh owner John Davidson. “It’s the closest you can get to fresh-picked mushrooms without having to make the trip to Kennett Square.”

KSS Fresh is an affiliate of KSS Sales, a purveyor and distributor of mushrooms from Kennett Square. It is a joint venture between Davidson and Herb Guest.

Last month, Reading Terminal Market began a spin on the traditional request-for-proposals process called Fresh Food Fight. As part of this, owner/operators get to present their fresh food and grocery concept for the chance to join the market as vendors.
