Bishop Shanahan Softball Pitcher Reaches Incredible Milestone

Devon Miller, a pitcher for the Bishop Shanahan High School softball team, made history last month by recording her 1,000th strikeout, writes Dan McCarty for CatholicPhilly.com.
“I never thought I would make a varsity school team, let alone break a record and have 1,000 strikeouts,” said Miller. “I’m just really glad to see that all my hard work paid off. If you work hard, good things happen.”
In addition to becoming the only pitcher in her school to achieve this milestone, Miller is also only the second pitcher in the Ches-Mont League to do so.
“To be the first in history is just crazy to me,” said Miller. “I never thought I’d do anything like that.”
Miller attended Kennett High School before she transferred to Bishop Shanahan in January of her freshman year.
Her next challenge will be at Fordham University, where she will continue her athletic career.
“I’m very excited,” she said.
