The excitement is palpable in the City of Coatesville.

The Coatesville 2nd Century Alliance, a public/private partnership comprised of community stakeholders working together to ensure that the city’s second century is economically prosperous, presented its 2019 Community Update on Tuesday morning.

And judging by the energy and enthusiasm of those on hand, one thing is crystal clear: Coatesville is on an upward trajectory.

The following speakers provided updates on a number of different topics that amounted to a State of Coatesville address:

• Safety: Jack Laufer, Coatesville’s Chief of Police
• Coatesville Growing Greater: Urias Cole, Community Coordinator
• Greening Coatesville: Kimberly Daye-Hardy, Brandywine Health Foundation
• City Developments: James Logan, Assistant City Manager
• Midway Arts: Mark Sherman, Mark Lance LLC
• Coatesville Train Station: Mike Kissinger, Land Development – Pennoni

Interestingly, the city is in “the exploratory stages of looking at the possibility of having a baseball stadium” at a property known as the Flats.

“We have a company that’s doing feasibility studies, some preliminary work, and environmental studies – things like that,” said Logan. “Just to have this idea and this concept presented to the City of Coatesville is wonderful.

“We’re going to put it out there as a hopeful. And if not, what it has done is already attracted additional attention to the City of Coatesville. So we’re very excited about the opportunity to at least be considered for a stadium.”
