West Chester’s Fame Fire and Rescue Company to Break Ground on Much-Needed Addition

By

Fame Fire and Rescue Company

The opportunity to break ground on a two-story, 8,000-square-foot addition to the Fame Fire and Rescue Company, one of three fire companies that make up the West Chester Fire Department, has been years in the making.

Now, this much-anticipated moment is upon us.

The public is invited to an official groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, April 25 from 9:30-11 AM at the Fame Fire and Rescue Company, located at 200 East Rosedale Avenue. Refreshments and tours will be available.

Fame’s volunteers are an integral part of the Chester County Rescue Task Force, and Fame’s current station, built in 1973, cannot accommodate the diversity of emergency-response equipment needed for the rescue operations it provides.

Therefore, years ago, Fame launched a capital campaign – entitled “Willing Hearts” and inspired by its motto, “With willing hearts, we hasten to assist” – to raise more than $2.5 million to renovate its building and add onto it. It has raised $1.8 million toward its goal and can now break ground.

Fame still needs $800,000 to pay for the construction, and its officials will be working closely with members of the community to see the campaign through to a successful conclusion.
