Colby Palomeque, 8, of East Fallowfield Township, is the newest recruit for the West Chester University men’s soccer team, writes Bill Rettew for the Daily Local News.

Palomeque was drafted as a Team IMPACT member. The nonprofit connects children who are facing serious and chronic illnesses with athletic teams at local colleges. Palomeque was diagnosed with ROHHAD Syndrome four years ago.

The team met at the Sturzebecker Health Science Center last week for an official press conference. Palomeque signed a national letter of intent to attend practices, games, team dinners, and other team events for the next two years.

As the team’s newest member, he also received an official uniform from head coach Michael Benn.

“We will try to make sure Colby has got some positive role models and he feels part of the team,” said Benn. “Our team is going to get as much out of this experience as Colby will.”
