Laura Taylor of Berwyn began developing a line of nonalcoholic drinks called Mingle Mocktails four years ago, after she quit drinking and found the nonalcoholic options at corporate events lacking, writes Diane Mastrull for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Taylor – a veteran of Rockwell Automation, Accenture, IBM, and Tableau – conducted online research on mocktails. They were trending at the time partly due to health-conscious millennials.

Six months after incorporating Mingle Mocktails, she launched her first product in November 2017 and generated $7,000 in sales by year end.

So she decided to quit her job and offer her product to country clubs and specialty stores. The first to sign on was Carlino’s, a family-owned food market and caterer with stores in Ardmore and West Chester.

Today, her mocktails are available at 400 Stop & Shop grocery stores in several states and local food markets, restaurants, and stores. Sales for last year totaled $85,000 for her four-flavor line of Cranberry Cosmo, Blackberry Hibiscus Bellini, Melon Mojito, and Moscow Mule.

Taylor has raised more than $100,000 from family and friends to finance the growth of her business and now aims to reach revenues of $10 million within five years.
