Rimon’s Coffee and Grocery in West Chester is a mom-and-pop shop with a little bit of everything, including great sandwiches, for a fair price, writes Bill Rettew for the Daily Local News.

The shop is run by Rimon Donian and his wife Marisca Indrawati. They work 15-hour days six times a week and then stock the shelves on Sundays.

Rimon’s Coffee and Grocery is a rare example of the family-run corners stores that used to be common in Chester County neighborhoods. The store serves more than 150 customers daily, with at least 75 percent greeted by their first name.

The shop opened around three years ago. Donian envisioned it as an uptown coffee shop “for people who really want good coffee.”

However, the shop has become much more. It’s a place for everyone, with lawyers, judges, and construction workers all regularly stopping by.

Donian, who came to the U.S. from Indonesia in 1995, believes there are good opportunities here.

“There are better opportunities in the United States if you have guts, if you have passion, and if you come to work hard,” he said.
