Kennett Square is one of the nation’s best winter vacation spots, according to a list of the 20 Small Towns Perfect for a Winter Getaway by House Method.

Known as the Mushroom Capital of the World, Kennett Square offers a unique New Year’s Eve experience as part of its Midnight in the Square. The town drops a 700-pound, lighted mushroom at midnight to mark the start of the New Year.

In February, the town welcomes visitors to the Kennett Winterfest, its annual beer celebration. During the event, participants can taste more than 60 local and regional beers and enjoy live music.

One of Kennett’s main draws is the Longwood Gardens, one of the world’s greatest horticultural displays. In addition to 40 gardens offering breathtaking floral displays, visitors can enjoy listening to a chamber orchestra perform in one of its beautiful conservatories.
