Bring a Little Spring: Plants to Enliven Your Work Space

By

This week brought a little taste of warm weather into our lives and – wouldn’t you know it – I simply cannot stop thinking spring. Flower beds, fresh mulch, and pastel sundresses feel like they are just around the corner, but the wonder of spring isn’t quite here yet.

IN THE MEANTIME I put together a list of my favorite faux plants, tiny trees, and tools that will bring a little sunshine into your workplace. Caring for friendly flora is a great way to relieve stress during the workday. Plants never go out of style, and they are super useful if you need something to talk about with new clients. Try it. You might surprise yourself!

Pro Tip: If you are new to the gardening game, your best bet is to stick with the succulents. They are almost impossible to kill and will survive enormous amounts of neglect. The perfect choice for most of us.

1 – Fukien Tea Indoor Bonsai Tree — Fall in love with the art of bonsai with this tropical evergreen shrub. Its white blossoms bloom almost year round.

2 – Hawaiin Umbrella Indoor Bonsai Tree — Arrives healthy and 10 to 14 inches tall in a beautiful ocean-blue ceramic training bed. The Hawaiian Umbrella’s glossy green leaves are delicately divided, and its upright umbels produce deep orange-red berries.

3 – Green Mound Juniper Bonsai Tree — The Juniper – a classic bonsai trainee – is a low-growing plant that produces lush greenery and small, firm, silvery blue berries. Its textured bark is favored by bonsai trainers for its variation and strength.

4a-b – Pack of Succulent Plants & Owl Ceramic Succulent Pots — I can’t get over how adorable these little owl pots are. Fill with succulents and add to bookshelves or desks. A perfect choice if you need to brighten bathroom countertops.

5 –  Haws Indoor Watering Can — Haws Watering Cans have been a staple for gardeners in England for over 100 years and they are gaining steam stateside. This solid copper can is unlaquered, so expect that rich evergreen patina to develop with age.

6 – Voilamart Bonsai Tool Kit— The perfect set of tools for the budding office bonsai trainer. Includes carbon fiber scissors that make snipping breezy.

7 – Vintage Style Pump Plant Mister — Decorative and functional, this mister is all you need to provide your succulents with the moisture they need to thrive.

8 – Small Blue Trowel — The one *essential* tool for indoor gardening enthusiasts if they prefer to keep their silverware dirt-free.

9 – Majesty Palm Tree —  The perfect plant for snowbirds and beach bums. Easy to grow and arrives 3-4 feet tall.

10 – AeroGarden Bounty Gourmet Herb Kit — This amazing indoor gardening system lets you grow your essential herbs all year round. Starter seeds included: Genovese Basil (x2), Thai Basil, Curly Parsley, Italian Parsley, Thyme, Chives Dill, and Mint.

11 – Laura Ashely 59″ Yacca Tree — This beautiful, lifelike evergreen will add splendor to any office corner or hallway. Maintenance free.
