Thanks to word of mouth, Cathie Josephs and Debbie Goldberg of Malvern have established a successful takeout and catering business out of a nearby gas station, writes Erin McCarthy for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The pair started Three Crazy Ladies five years ago, while the third woman has since moved on to other ventures. They quickly built a reputation for the quality of their food and their funny banter, which customers say improves even their worst days.

The ladies, who have a 5.0 rating on their Facebook page from more than 250 customers, say one of the secrets is that they love connecting with people.

“This is our community,” said Josephs. “We know these people.”

Their specials include Chilean sea bass tacos, salmon BLTs, and banh mi, but there is no indoor seating or signs out front.

Nonetheless, drivers still flock to the Sunoco gas station at the intersection of Lancaster Avenue and Route 29. Their patrons are mainly businesspeople from nearby office parks and local residents.

“We’re Italian-Jewish mothers who can’t keep our noses out of anyone’s business,” joked Josephs.
