Airbnb hosts in Chester and Delaware counties made more than $2.5 million from 19,000 visitors last year, writes Clara Lefton for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The high numbers show that Airbnb and similar services continue to transform the hospitality industry, both in the region and the nation.

According to numbers provided by the company, hosts in Pennsylvania welcomed around one million visitors in 2018 and made a total of $122 million. There are currently 14,200 hosts statewide who average $5,200 per year.

“2018 was another great year for Airbnb in Pennsylvania, with more local residents and small businesses able to benefit from the economic opportunities created by home sharing than ever before,” said Josh Meltzer, head of Northeast Public Policy.

The data, which is divided by counties, shows that the largest numbers of visits were to Philadelphia.

Chester County checked in at 12th on the list, with total host income for the last year of $1.6 million from 11,200 guest arrivals. Meanwhile, Delaware County is 17th with $930,300 in host income from 7,800 guest arrivals.
