David Ferron, the owner of Unionville Saddle who spent almost a decade in the New York fashion industry, believes functionality is key for his designs, writes Theodora Malison-Webb for Main Line Today.

“My personal style tends to be very functional,” he said. “There is nothing more annoying than a pocket in the wrong place, or a collar that is too tight.”

He refers to his style as casual and describes himself as a sweater-and-jeans guy.

“I believe in being comfortable but looking put together,” he said.

Ferron also does not believe in trends and focuses on things that will last and not go out of style. In fact, his favorite item in his closet is an old denim jacket.

“Over the years, I’ve added patches, which have great memories attached to them,” he said.

He began designing early on after creating his first piece of clothing: a Halloween costume.

“I remember working on a vampire cape with my mom in Chadds Ford when I was little and being so excited to show it off at school,” he said.
