Who Are These People?

Who are these people that just walked in your door,

And dropped everything they brought with them right on the floor?

Their appetites are ferocious, they do as they please,

They don’t know do their laundry and ask for car keys.

You dropped them at college, with a wave and a smile,

Excited they would come for the Holidays to stay for a while.

But, oh with a smile you remember them young,

So little and special and the songs you all sung.

You get glimpses of memories of times long ago,

When they wanted you with them to play in the snow.

They may look like adults but I promise you not,

They still need their home base, and traditions a lot

Please remember this time as it comes and it goes,

they still are your children and you love them you know.

When they head back to school with their clean laundry in tow,

I know that you’ll miss them, I promise you so.
