Wellness Wednesday: When Halloween Candy Won’t Just Disappear Already

Is the Halloween candy staring at you every time you walk in the kitchen?

I don’t know about you but I have three children and they all did their personal best to hit as many houses as possible this year. We have an abundance of candy in our home right now.

I polled my Facebook friends to find out what they do with all the leftovers.  Here are a few recommendations they shared.

  • Check with your local schools or dental offices to donate and receive a healthy alternative in return.
  • Participate in the Stockings for Soldiers program. This organization collects candy and other holiday items to stuff stockings for out Soldiers.  For more information; StockingsForSoldiers.org
  • Reuse the candy to make gingerbread houses, a hot chocolate bar and melt the candy into your holiday baked goods.
  • Operation Gratitude delivers packages filled by grateful Americans that want to express their support for Heroes serving overseas and here at home. For more information; operationgratitude.com
  • The Switch Witch is an ‘Elf ‘ like doll who takes the candy once Halloween is over. There is some preparation for this, so consider it for next year.

I enjoyed the candy for a few days and I am ready to say goodbye to the rest.  Find a way to hit the reset button with your nutrition and with the right reboot program, you will feel the sugar fog gone.
