The Chester County Council, Boy Scouts of America broke ground on Friday at the site of its much-anticipated Program Activity & Resource Campus (PARC) on Lincoln Highway in Exton.

PARC – the details of which were originally announced in April 2016 – will offer opportunities for young people to have fun while developing leadership skills, building character, and learning life lessons.

“PARC is the first new program property to be developed by and for Chester County Council since the 1920s,” said Nick Giuffre, the recently retired CEO of Bradford White and the Vice President of Development for the Chester County Council, Boy Scouts of America. “PARC will be seen and serve as a valuable resource in maintaining a high quality of life for the entire Chester County community.”

When finished, PARC, through a seamless combination of indoor and outdoor space, will be an amenity unparalleled for training and program opportunities for Boy Scouts, adult leaders, and the community.

“Scouting was the most formative, important experience of my life,” said Mike Burg, Chairman of the PARC Committee. “It’s about helping boys and girls learn to grow into great citizens. In my 30 years of adult scouting leadership, this is the most important thing. This is a legacy moment for all of us here today.”

PARC’s setting is distinctly visible and conveniently accessible and offers an endless supply of opportunities for the Boy Scouts of today and tomorrow. PARC will allow for dynamic utilization day and night, making after school, after work, and weekend use more accessible to a substantial number of current and potential Scouting members.
