A group of Unionville High School students, teachers, and administrators have put together a video urging others to “See Something, Say Something,” writes John Chambless for the Chester County Press.

The video is a part of an initiative started by Sandy Hook Promise, the nonprofit founded by several family members who lost loved ones during the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School six years ago. Their “See Something, Say Something” message has inspired schools across the country to adopt practices that could avert a school shooting.

The video posted on the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District website last week has students asking others to let a trusted adult know if they have heard or seen a student making threats.

“We need everyone to work together,” district superintendent John Sanville said later in the video.

The two minutes are somber but inspirational and offer a powerful statement. The video also benefits from being primarily student-led and student-produced.

“The school district’s Wellness Council reviewed several resources that provide similar services,” said John Nolen, the district’s assistant superintendent. “It also has a curriculum connected with it to support the program goals.”
