Where Does Philadelphia Rate Among the Best Foodie Cities in America?

Ahead of World Food Day on Tuesday, Oct. 16, foodies in Greater Philadelphia need not worry about their options, as the City of Brotherly Love rates among the best foodie cities in the nation, according to a recently published analysis by WalletHub.

To determine rankings for 2018’s Best Foodie Cities in America, WalletHub analyzed 182 cities across the country. It compared the biggest cities nationwide and at least two of the most populated cities in each state across two key dimensions: Affordability and Diversity, Accessibility & Quality.

Those dimensions were evaluated using 29 key metrics, including the cost of groceries and restaurant meals, number of restaurants, restaurant diversity, number of farmers’ markets and CSA programs, and the number of gourmet specialty-food stores.

Philadelphia placed 17th on the list. According to WalletHub, the best place for food lovers is Portland, Ore.
