The definition of “Brave” in the dictionary is having or showing mental or moral strength to face danger, fear, or difficulty: having or showing courage.
Lately, a lot of my clients and friends have been truly brave. They have allowed their truths, that may have kept hidden for years due to shame or guilt, to bubble up to the surface into a place of speaking it out loud.
To me “Brave” is about being able to tell your truth even when the circumstances, situation, or outcome is unknown. You may be standing alone in that truth. It also may mean that others may judge or think differently about you.
Sometimes being brave means you are the person hearing someone else’s truth. Take a breath and please listen, just listen and try and understand no matter what.
My request is that regardless of what your beliefs may be, your religion, your political views or your ability to trust that you don’t have to fix the situation for them, allow them to have a safe space to speak their truth.
Remember, unless you have walked in someone else’s shoes, your judgement of them could change their world or their choices. Be Brave, be courageous, be understanding.
