Linvilla Orchards in Media and the Bates Motel and Haunted Hayride in Glen Mills are among the attractions that are proving to be ideal getaways for a number of millennials obsessed with autumn, writes Erin McCarthy for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Linvilla offers visitors a more docile experience with features such as corn mazes, hayrides, and peach picking. These activities have seen their popularity grow significantly over the last two decades. Now, there are nearly 700 extra parking spots, with the busiest October weekends bringing in around 10,000 people a day.

However, according to Linvilla’s farm manager, Norm Schultz, customers today want different things than they did two decades ago.

“They just demand a much higher quality experience,” he said. “You used to be able to put out an inexpensive piece of farm equipment, or have people jump on a bale of hay. Now, they want more of a ‘Disney World’ experience.”

The Bates Motel and Haunted Hayride attracts people who want to be scared. Visitors are led through Halloween haunts and rides that are guaranteed to get the blood pumping faster and elicit a scream or ten from the group.
