Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship

Gov. Tom Wolf has announced that the state will make a major commitment to ensuring excellent teachers are leading STEM classrooms in high-need schools, as Pennsylvania establishes the Woodrow Wilson Pennsylvania Teaching Fellows program.

West Chester University, Duquesne University, and Penn were selected as initial university partners. These institutions will spend the next year tailoring their teacher preparation programs to meet the Fellowship’s standards for intensive clinical work and rigorous related coursework. The work at WCU will later be replicated on other campuses in the PASSHE.

“West Chester University is proud to be selected to represent the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education in the launch of a program that has been specifically planned and funded to develop exceptional teachers dedicated to infusing STEM knowledge,” said WCU President Christopher Fiorentino.

Golden Rams Football

Quarterback A.J. Long threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns while also running for 118 yards and two more scores to lead WCU to a 59-14 victory over host Seton Hill last Saturday.

The Golden Rams (3-0) put up five touchdowns in the first half to jump out to a 35-0 lead, before Seton Hill (0-3) could get on the scoreboard.

Long and running back Mark Dukes, a Pottstown native, added a pair of six-yard touchdown runs in the final two minutes of the half to have things well in control by halftime.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Penn State York has selected WCU graduate Jennifer May as its new director.
