Delaware County Community College’s New Music Concert Series kicks off the fall season with a performance by Byrne:Kozar:Duo on Sunday, Sept. 16 at 3 PM in the Large Auditorium of the Academic Building on the Marple Campus.

The Byrne:Kozar:Duo – comprised of Corrine Byrne and Andy Kozar – presents historically informed performances of Baroque music for natural trumpet and soprano, in addition to commissioning new works for modern trumpet and soprano.

Performing works by Rob Deemer, Reiko Füting, Paula Matthusen, David Smooke, Scott Wollschleger, and Scott Worthington, they have been said by reviewers to create “an arresting symbiosis in their melding of voice and trumpet timbres” and that the “trumpet and voice seem to take on one another’s qualities.”

As individuals, Byrne has been called a “celebrated singer” and “a rising star” while Kozar has been called a “star soloist” and “polished and dynamic, with very impressive playing.”
