The Oscar Lasko YMCA and Childcare Center in downtown West Chester offers state-licensed, full-day kindergarten for children who are four years and seven months old by the first day of school.

In addition to learning all subjects – including language arts, writing, math, science, and social studies – YMCA kindergarteners receive Spanish instruction, as well as extracurricular activities like:

  • field trips
  • weekly gymnastics instruction
  • weekly swimming lessons
  • weekly lessons in technology, art, music, and library

Also, before- and after-school care from 7 AM-6:30 PM is included with tuition. Financial assistance is available.

YMCA kindergarteners have been shown to read at or above grade level, and many learn at the first-grade or advanced first-grade curriculum level. A few spots remain for this year’s class, which begins on Monday, Aug. 27.

Registration and information are available by contacting Jennifer Lentz at jlentz@ymcagbw.org or 610-696-9622, ext. 2804.
