West Chester University has been named one of this year’s “Great Colleges to Work For” by The Chronicle of Higher Education.

The results were released in The Chronicle’s 11th annual report on The Academic Workplace and are based on an employee survey conducted at 253 institutions nationwide. The survey is the largest and most comprehensive workplace study in higher education and recognizes universities and colleges that earn top ratings from their employees on workforce practices and policies.

Of the 253 institutions that participated in the survey this year, 84 have been recognized as a 2018 Great College to Work For. Results are reported for large, medium, and small institutions, with WCU included among the large universities with 10,000 or more students.

WCU achieved distinction in the category of “Tenure Clarity & Process (four-year colleges only).”

The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institutional audit that captured demographics and workplace policies, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators, and professional support staff.

The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback.

To administer the survey and analyze the results, The Chronicle worked with ModernThink LLC, a strategic human capital consulting firm that has conducted many “Best Places to Work” programs, surveying numerous employees nationwide.
