Rajant, a leader among Pennsylvania’s burgeoning network of automation hardware and software firms, celebrated its ongoing success at its new Malvern headquarters with the Autonomous Summit, writes Joseph DiStefano for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

At the end of last month, the company’s founders, Robert Schena and Paul Hellhake, held an event that included a free lunch, hardware demonstrations from the region’s robotics makers, and lively discussions about humanity’s automated future.

The goal of the summit was also to call attention to the robotics boom in Pennsylvania, which is evident from increased sales to the military, mining, and other national and foreign clients.

Rajant plans to add an additional 40 engineering, sales, and support staff at its new Malvern space over the next year. The company is the maker of BreadCrumb, a wireless multiband radio developed by Schena’s and Hellhake’s team after the 9/11 attacks, when police and fire crews in New York City infamously could not communicate.

Over the years, the company’s engineers have made the device smaller, going from the size of a car battery to a mobile phone, while adding more power and features.
