Exelon Generation is considering moving its headquarters from Kennett Square, where it currently leases two buildings totaling 250,000 square feet, writes Natalie Kostelni for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The company is part of Exelon Corp., which owns PECO Energy. It has been housing its operations on a campus at 200 and 300 Exelon Way for the last 18 years, after PECO consolidated its employees into the two Kennett Square buildings.

At that time, the property was supposed to have two additional buildings added, bringing the campus to 430,000 square feet. However, those buildings were never constructed. The company’s lease on the property currently runs until September 2020.

Now, the company is looking at other options to bring it closer to the metropolitan area. One of these is moving back to the Chesterbrook Corporate Center in Wayne where PECO used to be located.

The company is examining different ways to cut the amount of space it needs.

“Our real estate and facilities team is exploring location options for the Generation headquarters, currently located in Kennett Square,” said David Tillman, the company’s spokesman.
