The best cure for the scorching summer heat is a trip to the coast, and the Philadelphia Business Journal has a few suggestions on the best places to go with a list of the 10 best beaches in neighboring New Jersey, according to USA Today’s readers.
The initial 20 nominees were picked by USA Today’s editors and local experts who partnered with Dr. Stephen Leatherman, also known as “Dr. Beach.”
The Top 10 beaches were then decided by popular vote.
The beach that came out on top is Wildwood, one of the very few free beaches along the Jersey Shore. The beach is packed with activities, including three amusement parks within easy walking distance of the boardwalk.
“We’re proud of our beaches, and are truly honored to be named the best beach in New Jersey by USA Today readers,” said John Siciliano, Executive Director and CFO of the Greater Wildwoods Tourism & Development Authority.
Brigantine Beach came in second, thanks to its numerous opportunities for swimming, sailing, kayaking, surfing, and fishing, while Asbury Park Beach took third place.
