The Strawberry Festival, which marks the unofficial start to summer in the greater Coatesville area, is here.

The four-day extravaganza, which opens tonight, will attract more than 25,000 guests to the grounds of Brandywine Hospital – Tower Health.

The Strawberry Festival has grown in size and stature since its inception in 1973 as a one-day event at Coatesville City Hall, where nurses at the Coatesville Hospital raised funds for a nursing scholarship.

The Brandywine Health Foundation took over the Strawberry Festival 15 years ago, and it has become a significant source of revenue for the Foundation, allowing it to give back more to the community each year

Throughout the years, the Strawberry Festival has benefited a variety of health and human service organizations in the community. This year’s beneficiaries include the Coatesville Area Public Library, Coatesville Rotary Club, Coatesville Youth Initiative, and the Thorndale Volunteer Fire Company.

Admission is free and there is non-stop excitement for kids of all ages. Everyone will enjoy the rides located on the Majestic Midway, as well as the on-going entertainment on the main stage.

Young visitors will flock to Strawberryland, one of the Festival’s most popular areas featuring moon bounces, inflatable slides, and much more. There’s food for everyone, and a Craft and Business Vendor area, where visitors can shop.

Come rain or shine, be sure to stop by the Strawberry Festival one or more days this weekend for some family friendly entertainment.
