OurBus Expands Pennsylvania Presence with Crowdsourced Service from York, Lancaster to NYC

By

In partnership with Lancaster-based Executive Coach, OurBus – a tech company that specializes in intercity and crowdsourced bus routes – will now bring daily, express bus service from York, Lancaster, and surrounding areas in Pennsylvania to New York City starting on July 1.

Riders in York and Lancaster will be offered $10 one-way promotional fares through July 14 to celebrate the launch of the new bus service serving southern Pennsylvania. As part of the service, there will be additional stops in Malvern, King of Prussia, and Fort Washington.

Lancaster is the largest city in the Northeast lacking intercity bus service, with residents relying solely on the train, where round-trip tickets are often a minimum of $100. OurBus, in partnership with local residents who helped crowdsource the route by suggesting pickup locations and times, is dedicated to bringing more affordable travel options to its customers.

“We’re dedicated to offering low-cost, reliable, and efficient bus service to cities across the U.S. that have been historically underserved by limited transportation options,” said Erica Prince, senior operations coordinator at OurBus. “With the summer season kicking off, we hope that residents of York and Lancaster will take advantage of our service to enjoy everything New York offers them, whether it’s July 4 fireworks, seeing a Broadway show, visiting the legendary Coney Island, or relaxing in the Hamptons.”

“For almost four decades, we’ve prided ourselves on bringing the best and most comfortable travel experience to our customers, and we’re excited to start a new chapter with OurBus, serving our hometown of Lancaster,” said Executive Coach’s Dale McMichael.

OurBus will be joined by representatives from the City of York, Downtown Inc, and other local leaders for a ribbon-cutting at the new OurBus stop at 53 East North Street in downtown York on July 20.

“OurBus will provide a service that is currently lacking to our residents – direct travel into the Philadelphia suburbs and New York City,” said York Mayor Michael Helfrich. “I am excited that this low cost, express travel option will be available to our community at 53 East North Street, a historic transportation hub in the heart of the City of York.”

OurBus entered the Pennsylvania market in December 2017, launching service from West Chester to New York City, with stops in between.

By using disruptive technology and crowdsourcing to bring efficient bus service to leisure travelers, students, and families on a budget, OurBus is bucking the traditional bus service model, recognizing that travelers need reliable and efficient transportation that’s close to their home, with less transfers, and less time in the car.
